Introduction of Rehabilitation Engineering Research Institute
Basic information：Rehabilitation Engineering Research Institute of China Rehabilitation Research Center was established in 1987 , a research unit which deals with the development、design and production of special equipment supplies、rehabilitation training equipment 、orthosis 、prosthesis and reconstruction of walking function.It also offers rehabilitation engineering training courses to? Faculty of Rehabilitation of Capital University of Medical Sciences.It is the main character of the institute to integrate the advanced engineering techn ,both domestic and international, and rehabilitation medicine to develop more than 140 kinds of rehabilitation products to the market. More than 10 kinds of these products win national patents. Recently the institute assumes some national research programmes. There are 35 staff members in the institute,of which 5 are senior engineers,7 are deputy senior engineers. About 120 devices are used for scientific researches.The total value of these devices is more than $600,000.

?Products and patents:
Environment-protecting motor wheelchair:3 kinds of environment-protecting moter wheelchair has been produced and win a national patent.
Press-adjusted foot pad: the press-adjusted foot pad has been developed with the methond of system integration engineering.This product has won a national patent and is on try in clinic.
Ultraviolet light disinfection car reached the leading level in the domestic.
National Research Programmes:
《the study of development and production of copier for the blind》has been finished. The product performances up to the leading domestic level, and win the third prize of Beijing technological progress. The paper for this study won the first prize in rehabilitation engineering academic conferences.

《study and development of lower limb prosthesis with improved materials and technologies》won a national patent.
《study of analysis and measurement of human movements》has been finished .2-D gait analysis of unilateral lower limb and 3-D movement analysis system of upper limb has been produced.
Professional Training: The institute affords the rehabilitation engineering training and practice for the students from Faculty of Rehabilitation of the Capital University of Medical Sciences, and has been approved to grant Master's degree since 2002. It also undertakes refresher course and study training of countrywide doctors and technicians as well as correlational training classes.
Training and Education Programmes:
To organize technicians to take part in the national prosthetic qualification examination and achieve good results. 6 people have become certificated prosthetists, which makes the unit have the most certificated prosthetists among all the related companies.
To organize professors to engage in the national prosthetics training programmes, and have completely finished the lower limb prosthetic training programmes(totally about 120 students gruaduated)
