Brief Introduction of Physical Medicine Department

The physical medicine department is an independent, special department that provides modality therapy and hydrotherapy for people with disabilities, combined with research and education in these fields. It is staffed with individuals who have rich experiences, including 1 vice-consultant doctor, 1 resident doctor and 7 therapists. A hydrotherapy room, a modality therapy room and an electromyographic biofeedback training room are affiliated to the department. Based on many advanced devices and facilities, more than 90000 times of treatments had been offered per year for patients who had suffered from pain, spasticity, inflammation and other disorders. And the effective ratio of rehabilitation treatments reached more than 90%. We will try our best to help patients in different clinical departments of CRRC.

There are many advanced hydrotherapy devices in this department, especially Aqua Mill underwater treadmill training system. There are 3 therapists who specialize in hydrotherapy in this department. According to literatures and experiences, hydrotherapy is of great importance in rehabilitation of SCI, stroke, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, post-amputation, post-joint replacement, fractures, arthritis and other disorders. Not only can it help to relief pain, reduce spasticity, maintain ROM, improve coordination and flexibility, increase strength and endurance, but also have good effect on regulating the patients’ psychological conditions.
